BCH Technical Services, LLC - HELP - Before you get started
-
The Welcome! letter
-
When you first get your account, you will be sent a 'Welcome!'
letter. This letter will contain almost all of the
information you need to get started, most importantly your
'login'. If you have not received this letter send mail to support.
-
It will NOT contain your password. You must contact support per
the instructions in the 'Welcome!' letter to get a password.
Passwords for your login are never sent via email.
Also, do not confuse your login password with a password that
you might have for a mailing list membership - those passwords
are sent via email.
-
Depending upon what you are using the systems for, not all of the
information in the letter will be relevant to your use. For example,
if you are using the system just to do email, the 'login host'
will most likely not be needed, but the 'incoming mail host' will
be.
-
You may want to print the 'Welcome!' message to make it easier to
configure your system access.
-
Keep the 'Welcome!' message handy.
-

Terms, Terms and more Terms!
-
Some pieces of information have multiple names. For example,
when Outlook asks you for your 'account', it is referring to
your 'login'. Using the following brief technical thesaurus may
be useful to you when configuring your software (like mail
clients) to access the systems.
-
login - also called 'login name', 'account', 'account name', 'username'.
-
incoming mail host - also called 'POP server', 'incoming mail server'.
-
outgoing mail host - also called 'SMTP server', 'outgoing mail server'.
-
Following directions carefully will ensure successful
configuration the first time!
-
Now click the "BACK" button and select the help area relevant to your use
of the system. If you are going to be using the system for email, select
"Mail".
